With simple ingredients, a wooden spoon, and a bowl, you can have this hot, homemade Beer Bread with Thyme on the table in no time flat!
*Disclaimer - This recipe was originally published in 2014. I'm working hard to update all my older recipes with recipe cards, new photos, and additional recipe information. But, getting to all of them will take time. Please bear with me. In the meantime let me assure you that this recipe is still a winner and one I'm sure you'll be well pleased with when you make it at home.
The following photo was taken shortly after I'd planted all my herbs in late May.
As of today, my herbs are wildly overgrown and out of control.
Every year I promise myself not to let that happen and that I'll take better care to keep them tended to and weed-free.
And yet every year, the herb garden (along with our vegetable garden) gets the better of me and makes me feel much like a foolish slacker.
This year I've even promised myself that I'm going to actually dry some of the garden herbs to use during the long, cold winter months. HA!
We'll see how far I actually get with that! Here's to my good intentions... 😉
THYME FOR BEER BREAD {PRINT THIS RECIPE}
Yield: 1 loaf Prep Time: 5 minutes Bake Time: 45-50 minutes
3 cups all-purpose flour
4 ½ teaspoons baking powder
1 ½ teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons garlic powder
1 ½ tablespoon fresh thyme leaves
⅓ cup granulated sugar
5 tablespoons butter, melted (divided)
1 12 ounces can or bottle of beer (the cheaper the better)

-Spray a 9x5 loaf pan with cooking spray.
-In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, thyme leaves, and sugar.
-Pour in the beer and 3 tablespoons of the melted butter. Stir with a spoon until just combined and a stiff batter has been formed.
-Scrape the batter into the prepared loaf pan and spread the batter as evenly as possible in the pan.
-Brush the top of the loaf with the remaining 2 tablespoons of melted butter.
-Bake in a preheated oven for 45-50 minutes or until the loaf is a lovely golden brown in color and when a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
-Turn the loaf out onto a wire rack and cool completely before slicing.
